This solution means a Master Procurement Program can be worked out for a forecast horizon that is equivalent to the planning horizon. SKEP Purchasing allows for MPS feasibility extension to cover raw material and packaging procurement.

Calculation of the Master Procurement Program starts by the calculation of critical material needs (material that is strategic for the company), followed by the comparison of these needs with current order and delivery schedules. This analysis is carried out over a forecast horizon and consists of a validation and anticipation of the needs to give final validation for the MPS.

This means a supplementary order and delivery schedule is worked out, including parameters such as: forecast reception of goods, deliverable orders, minimum inventory, initial stock inventory, sourcing procurement units, maximum/minimum deliveries, etc.
