Tarkett improves its customer service with n.SKEP ® by DynaSys

The Tarkett Company is one of the leaders in floorings production worldwide. Tarkett produces plastic, wood and laminated floorings, linoleum and textile floorings, for residential usage (via do-it-yourself stores ) as well as for commercial and industrial purpose (building industry, hotels, airports, hospitals, schools, etc.). With a global workforce of approximately 7,000 employees and 26 production centres worldwide, the Tarkett group has a sales representation in over 100 countries and sells 240 million square metres of floor coverings a year. In 2004 sales amounted to 1.436 billion Euros.

 

Already renowned for the quality of its products and its constant innovation,the company wanted to increase its performance and to improve its customer service: indeed, faced with an increasing demand, Tarkett has been confronted with problems of sales forecasting, of programming its production capacities and of projecting stocks forecasts, but also needed central multi-site planning.

 

After an audit of the planning function carried out in May 2004, Tarkett launches the ‘Customer Plus’ project in order to increase the level of its customer service by improving the quality of its forecasts, its planning as well as its delivery lead times. The company thus began looking for apowerful and global tool covering all the Supply Chain Management functions required by the global industrial organization of the Tarkett group.

 

After having consulted several Supply Chain market actors in november 2004, Tarkett decided in march 2005 to opt for the collaborative solutions of DynaSys, namely n.SKEP® Demand Planning for demand forecasting, n.SKEP® Distribution Planning a multi-site planning solution which coordinates product flows through the whole logistic network, and n.SKEP® Production Planning for strategic and tactical production planning.

 

« We wanted to work closely with an editor able to understand our needs very quickly and who could offer a rapid solution to our problems by taking our internal organization into account (several products, several production units,…). Moreover, we wanted a user-friendly tool that iseasy to implement, which can interface with SAP – the global tool of the group – and which allows us to anticipate our activities in terms of sales, stocks, manufacturing…», states Marion Schirmer, Project Manager.

 

Philippe Réchaussat, pre-sales engineer at DynaSys, adds: « There are other important aspects of Tarkett’s functional choice of n.SKEP®: the solution is flexible, ergonomic and allows to take a Lean Manufacturing-type approach into account, and this in a standard way ».

 

« The different DynaSys tools have met all our criteria. We also appreciated the professionalism and flexibility of the DynaSys team, which managed to adapt very quickly to our constraints and satisfy our needs », adds Marion Schirmer.

 

She also concludes that « Thanks to n.SKEP® solutions, we hope to improve our customer service level significally by increasing the quality of our forecasting and planning. In cooperation with DynaSys this project will first be developed in Europe and Australia , involving more than 130 users, but we also plan to extend it to the United States ».
