The group unified its planning and forecasting systems for all of its plants.

May 21st 2007

DynaSys, European expert in Supply Chain Planning, announced the signature of a new contract with JACQUOT, CEMOI group specialist in chocolate moulding. In 2003 the group had already chosen the n.SKEP solutions by DynaSys for the planning and optimization of its global Supply Chain. Four years after it extends its choice to JACQUOT, a company taken over in 2007.

The initial solution

In 2003 the group wanted to implement a global planning solution, powerful and customizable, able to accompany its strategy of evolution. After consulting different editors of Supply Chain Planning solutions, the choice has been made with DynaSys. “What’s made the difference at this time is, specially, the collaborative aspect of the n.SKEP solution,” explains Bernard Lasry, Supply Chain Manager of the CEMOI group. “It answered perfectly to our constraints, such as the monitoring of complex flows and inter-sites exchanges. I would add that, during the project pre-analyze, the expertise and the understanding of our business needs by the DynaSys team confirmed our choice.”

Since 2004 CEMOI has been deploying progressively the different modules of the DynaSys solution, including n.SKEP Production Planning for factories planning, n.SKEP Demand Planning for sales forecasting and n.SKEP Master Planning for multi-sites optimization and central monitoring of flows. This project became quickly a company project for the group by integrating the whole tools into the IT System in less than a year.

The challenge in 2007

After buying the JACQUOT company, the implementation of a global and unified Supply Chain Planning solution became an evidence for the group. “We needed a system common to every plants”, confides Bernard Lasry. “A solution that allows us to plan our different activities, which could be seasonal or permanent, to control our saturation points, to highlight potential alternatives within the group, or optimize our procurement, but more importantly to evolve with us and our needs.”

Based on the experience and on the results obtained by the CEMOI group, the JACQUOT division then implemented the n.SKEP solution by DynaSys, taking into account the specific features of the brand, specially in terms of production flow (segmented and linear) and in terms of seasonality of products, and ensuring a perfect integration with the information system of the group.

A process was also installed taking into account the new organization and provides a project team in the CEMOI group which is controlled by the persons in charge of the Supply Chain in JACQUOT. By the way, at the end, the users of this division will train, in collaboration with the experts of the CEMOI headquarters, the other users on the newly installed modules, a collaborative and cooperative principle important for the company;

A new module has been added to the initial solution, n.SKEP Procurement, to optimize procurements of raw materials, and also algorithms of advanced optimization to validate the impact of raw materials on the different stages of planning.

“To be in perfect adequacy with the new strategy of the group, and particularly, the creation of an independent Seasonal Business Unit, we are working on the future of our planning methodologies in close collaboration with DynaSys, and the evolution of the n.SKEP solutions to answer as well as our actual needs than our future ones,” concludes Bernard Lasry.

The DynaSys solutions implemented in JACQUOT

  • n.SKEP Production Planning – for Master Production Schedule (MPS) with finite capacity
  • n.SKEP Demand Planning – for sales forecasting (centralized solution)
  • n.SKEP Master Planning – multi-sites planning (centralized solution)
  • n.SKEP Procurement Planning – for Master Procurement Program

More than 15 persons are directly involved in the daily use of the Supply Chain Planning tools, among which 12 planners, 3 forecasters in the headquarters and 2 persons dedicated to the procurement level.
