With numerous references (5 500 active references; 29 000 lines of orders a day) partly due to several different customers, the Dacem company has adopted since 2006 a global approach to optimize its Supply Chain. The main objective is to improve even more the products availability for the customers in the shops, while optimizing its stocks .
“We are both central buying office and European logistic center, so our function is to buy, stock and supply the shops of our customers with accessories and consumables , confides Stéphanie Mathiote-Babin, Project Manager at Dacem. We manage customers spread over different countries in Europe, with different behaviours and needs. Most of our products are very changing and have an even shorter life cycle. Our procurement ways change and new constraints appear, linked to sourcing and geographic distance of some of our suppliers. To meet these new requirements whilst improving customer service as well as our performances we deployed this Supply Chain optimization project.”
One of the project orientations was to implement an APS tool, so the Dacem company decided at the end of 2005 to consult ten editors on the Supply Chain market. Three main players, amongst them DynaSys, were selected in January of 2006.
“Because of flow speeding-up as well as even more information to process and to share with a growing number of users, it is now necessary to develop the IT systems. So we needed a performant tool able to evolve and to integrate our IT environment”, adds Sylvie Raymond, Organization and IT Director.
After a first stage dedicated to the optimization of internal processes, the Dacem company decided during the summer 2006 to launch the second stage, that is to say the implementation of the tool, by going ahead with the selection. In December 2006, Dacem selects the DynaSys collaborative solutions: n.SKEP ® Demand Planning, for demand forecasting, n.SKEP ® Distribution Planning, to coordinate and optimize product flows through the whole distribution network, and n.SKEP ® Procurement Planning, to plan and optimize supplies, taking into account supplier constraints and also calculating the order and delivery plan.
“We have chosen the n.SKEP ® tool by DynaSys for different reasons, explains Stéphanie Mathiote-Babin. DynaSys met all of our functional requirements, had a project team which was flexible and in touch with us, and offered a user-friendly and powerful tool very appreciated by the users during the modeling presentation. Last but not least, DynaSys showed a Supply Chain expertise which really made the difference with its competitors.”
Two sites are concerned by this implementation:the headquarters based in Bobigny and the European warehouse of 35 000 square meters, located northerly from Roissy.
“It is important for us that our purchase, procurement, sales and forecasts team perfectly adopts and appreciates the n.SKEP ® tool, before extending its use to our customers and suppliers, concludes Sylvie Raymond. The objective by 2008 is to add an externalcollaborative function in order to enable our customers, and later our suppliers, to share their needs better and to accede to information quicker.”
For now a team of 3 people supports Dacem in its Supply Chain project, that is to say a DynaSys project Director, a functional project manager as well as a technical project manager.
‘We are very proud to have been chosen by the Dacem company, with whom we have built a real partnership from the beginning’, confides Ariel Weil, DynaSys CEO. ‘We have succeeded in all the stages of the selection process, particularly by respecting an ambitious project plan and by adopting the right staff. Besidesa good understanding of our customer’s business problematics, our n.SKEP ® solution has perfectly corresponded to the initial requirements.
To conclude: “Human value has a great importance by Dacem. The wanted to meet the whole DynaSys team involved in the project, before beginning any collaboration. We also share these values and are very confident concerning the well implementation of this project.”
